Backwashable Microfilters

Traditional solid/liquid separation equipment does not match today's critical needs for environmentally friendly, efficient filtration.

Throw-away microfiltration cartridges, paper roll filters, stainless steel screen devices, belt and drum filters .........   a vast array of inadequate devices....   fail to meet today's high technology needs in most industries.

ESCO presents an innovative microfilter with a combination of reliability and flexibility in a cost effective design format.

ESCO backwashable Micro Filters relate to a process whereby solid particle removal is accomplished through the use of thermoplastic discs, with serrations appearing on both sides and designed in such a way that a fine cross labyrinth is formed.

Filtration is carried out under pressure with the flow starting at the outer diameter of the element and is forced through the labyrinth, exiting at the internal diameter.  The effluent is carried out of the upper casing by the candle through holes in the upper plate.

The system will continue filtering up to a point where the differential pressure between the inlet and outlet chamber reaches a set value, at which point the backwash cycle is activated.

Effective backwashing is attributed to the unique design of the assembly, which employs a spring loaded feature.  The pressure of the backwash media compresses the spring, resulting in the separation of the filter elements.  In this state the contaminants are easily dislodged and forced out through the drain.  In less than 60 seconds of backwash, the filter is clean and restored to its full flow capacity.

Individual filters are available in a range of sizes with flow capacities from 50 to over 800 m³/h with particle size removal down to 5 micron.

Plants consisting of multiple units can be supplied for very high flow rates, and operation may be fully automatic if desired.
