Carbon Reactivation

At our facility in Springs, to the East of Johannesburg, we offer a reactivation service for users of granular activated carbon.

This plant has been in operation since 1991, and provides industry with an effective means of having spent carbon returned to useful service.

The benefits of carbon reactivation include:

The cost of having carbon reactivated is approximately 50% of the cost of new carbon

Spent carbon containing organic contaminants is required to be disposed of at a recognised waste processing facility.  Reactivation makes this unnecessary.

Spent carbon can usually be reactivated if it has an Iodine Number greater than 400, and the Iodine Number of the reactivated carbon can normally be brought to over 800, indicating that it can usefully be re-used in place of virgin carbon.

We provide this service to a number of major users, including municipal water utilities and industrial users of activated carbon.
